If the grip is shaped correctly for your hand, you should get a fairly consistent feel if you force the web of your hand against the back of the grip before letting your fingers wrap.

Hi,

May I ask you to turn off the Bold selection on your keyboard. It is impolite to shout.

Thanks.

Stance and Grip

Sridha:

Welcome to the wonderful (and challenging!) sport of International Pistol!

The issues of Stance (your other post) and Grip (this post) are related and unseparable. I tried replying to your other post but was blocked; I will try replying here.

1) The purpose of technique is to create the conditions that result in the execution of the optimal shot process.
2) The optimal shot process is that series of events that results in the best (minimal error) alignment of the sights, while achieving the best (minimal error) wobble area, while releasing the shot with the best (minimal error) trigger activation.
3) Any adopted technique must support and lead to 1) and 2) above. The degree of success of a techique is no more (and frequently less) than the degree to which the technique leads to 1) and 2) above.
4) Any stance, any grip, any shot process must be focused on achieving 1) and 2) above.

O.K., so you ask about the techniques of "stance" and "grip." How do stance and grip lead to an optimal shot process?

While Stance is more directly related to Wobble and Grip is more directly related to shot release, the two are related.

Here's what you need to do: figure out the stance/grip combination that allows you to quickly settle into your minimum arc of movement, with the sights aligned, and release the shot with no disruption to the sight alignment or natural wobble.

Premises:
a) you will have a good settle area somewhere near you natural point of aim
b) you will have an easier time keeping the sights aligned if they are aligned consistent with your natural point of aim
c) with sights aligned and settled, you will have minimal disruption during the release of the shot if you finger is applying pressure in line with the centerline of the bore

So, to develop your technique of Stance and Grip, you need to conduct multiple experiments to find that stance-grip combination which allows you to bring the gun up to the target comfortably and consistently in such a way that the sights naturally align on the proper aiming area, and you are able to bring pressure to the trigger through the shot without disturbing this alignment.

Grip and Stance are the same technique.
