How come the U.S. didn't have a rapid fire shooter? What happened to Mr. Bickar and Mr. McNally?

I believe that Terry Anderson had the slot and was unable to shoot

I was googling to find out what happened to Terry Anderson and found this article from a few days ago:

"Terry Anderson thought he'd be in Athens right now, chasing his lifelong dream of Olympic gold. Instead, he's in prison, his life plugged full of holes."

And they say there is no drama in shooting. I still can't figure out what kind of person would chamber a round whilst the muzzle was pointed at someone's head.

Quite simple really, no U.S. shooter won a quota place in Rapid.

Even if Terry Anderson had won a quota place (which he did not), it would have been for the U.S. and not for himself. Any U.S. shooter with an MQS in Rapid would have been able to fill it.

I find it astonishing that, after accidentally shooting his wife, someone would continue sport shooting as the most important part of his life. If someone causes a fatal accident while driving a car, then drives again because driving is an almost absolutely necessary part of modern life, that is one thing. But sport shooting is optional, there are other things one can do.

[And I believe I have never previously used the word "astonishing" in my life! "Amazing" just doesn't express this.]
