I believe the Walther is not designed for mounting a scope rail. The upper shroud mounting system is not the same as the IZH, and the shroud floats instead of being screwed down tightly. Makes no difference with iron sights, but would be a problem with a scope or dot. I have heard that the only reason the IZH has the 3 upper shroud screws is to secure it for a scope rail - one of the handfull of changes the IJ-35 went through to become an "IZH-35M" for the US market.
We went over the "IJ" vs. "IZH" discussion a while back - I refer to an "IZH-35M" as the gun with the changes (push-button side mag release, grip safety, shroud screws, etc) for the U.S. market. The Walther is the IJ-series design.
