COLO SPRGS, CO (March 30, 2023) – USA Shooting is pleased to announce the hiring of Tracy Barnes, Olympian, as the new senior director of development.

Barnes is a biathlon Olympian, an avid shooter, a firearms instructor, and a public speaker. Barnes most recently worked at the director of commercial sales at HIVIZ Shooting Systems where she focused on commercial domestic and international sales.

“I am excited to begin working with USA Shooting to contribute to their continued success and help them to reach new heights both at home and on the world stage,” said Barnes. “I look forward to creating a lasting impact for all athletes, coaches, staff, and supporters within the shooting sports world.”

As the senior director of development, Barnes will be working on the development strategy and general fundraising effort for USA Shooting. Barnes will also be involved with the USA Shooting Team Foundation Board and collaborative efforts for gift giving. This work will serve to build organizational capability in supporting all USA Shooting athletes with a concerted focus on the Path to Paris 2024.

“We are very fortunate to have Tracy Barnes joining the USA Shooting senior management team,” said Craig Kozeniesky, USA Shooting CEO. “As a former Olympian and outdoor recreation industry executive, she brings a unique set of experiences and skills that will significantly enhance USA Shooting’s strategic partnerships and sponsor programs. Tracy’s credibility is matched by her tireless work ethic and unparalleled professionalism. She’s a welcome addition to USA Shooting!”

Barnes, a Colorado native, comes from a family of Olympians. Her twin sister, Lanny was a biathlon athlete as well. Tracy competed in the 2006 Olympic Games and later qualified for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games but gave up her spot to Lanny who was ill during the trials. Barnes received the United Nations Fair Play award and the U.S. Olympic Committee Jack Kelley Fair Play award.

Barnes is the co-founder of Check Outside Gear rentals, a national level company that provides outdoor gear by mail for camping, hunting, and outdoor recreation.
