I could not bring myself to clamp any part of my pistol in a vise, so If am going to try this the next time the shop is devoid of projects.

Just a little more sanding and it will be mint.

IMO the cylinder blocks would be more effort to make, and then the cylinder would have to be cranked on pretty hard to insure it not moving.

I needed to try to repair/rebuild a Hammerli AP40 cylinder a while back. The problem was hanging onto it securely so I could give a good heave on a pin spanner to unscrew the valve assembly. I 3D printed a set of vise jaws:
I've also got designs to fit Steyr, Morini, & Benelli Kite cylinders. They would certainly be secure enough to ensure good accuracy for testing.

The designs I made are very specific to the vise I have, but the critical cylinder gripping geometry is very simple. You just need to add space for the silicone rubber sheet to the cylinder diameter.

Since some of you thought I was making a grip, here is the final result of my efforts. Since I have a case of RWS 4.49, I didn't want to pellet test. I varied velocity until I got the best groups with what I already had.

So here we are, almost 2 months later, and all you've learned is what velocity your vise likes with the specific batch of pellets you currently have. Next time you buy pellets, it's all down the drain.

Ya shoulda just listened to Rover (whatever he said).

You probably wonder why all the major manufacturers test their guns too. They should all just come with a note that says Rover thinks it's good enough with RWS basics, and his follower agrees.

At last!!! The perfect Pivot Man for the circle jerk we've been waiting for.

I am happy with the end result for a 5 shot group.

Knowing your equipment is performing, at least for me, is better than being reasonably sure that it is good enough.
