Shaners' front sight

Post by Xman »

I watched a brief replay of the Mens 10m air rifle. I caught a few glimpses of Shaners' front sight "system" and it looked like a 2 piece apparatus. Two slim vertical pieces with about 1 inch between them.
Can anyone enlighten me on the concept, configuration and maybe post a pic of this configuration?

Matthew Emmons could have used that sight in 2004 when he cross-fired.

Yes not invented yet, yes cruel to say.

Now about that touch off .....

I’ll try to get a photo but the gun got lost at customs soooo there’s that. The design is similar to the Race and removes the dark black outer edging to make it less stressful on the eye. He also uses a blue filter lens. Everything focused on relaxing the eye and enhancing the contrast from the bull and front ring. He and others have tried them on their smallbore rifles and struggled with outdoor use and lighting, so he uses a more conventional front sight.

On a side note, Matt Emmons is an amazing shooter and things happen and sometimes our worst fears come to life in the worst moments.
