MONTHLY AP LEAGUE JUNE 2021

Post by siordian1 »

Lets get June started. I will post the results for may ASAP. Nice to see most of the USA opening up from Covid. I hope that most of Europe will be open soon.

Shot as many AP matches as you like, post as you go. Good luck.

Chaser to my poor showing last month. I still hope to beat it, but it's a very good start for me. Just back to basics...

I have been working on getting a more consistant grip. The past few weeks I-m shooting more and more in to the hight 550´s and last night after breaking in a new "sorter girl" I shot a 563.

If anyone wants to know what she looks like, I finally learned how to post pics, and will post one of if enough shooters want to know....

Something weird happened.
Very little focus caused by stress at work. A lot of caffeine and nicotine. Session finished in less than 25 minutes. And still pb...

This ties my personal best, so I'll take it. A few too many 8s, and I have managed fewer in the past, but oh well. I'm really trying to nail down my best grip and trigger fit. I've had the gun for 4 months but at some point I'd like to make fewer fitment changes and go for longer stretches of just scoring targets with the same setup.

Man, you are throwing pellets like Chernousov for half of the match👍

How does this translate to live competition?
For me, it’s sometimes like I shoot better at a live competition than while training. I have a hard time getting my match focus while training. For that reason I usually don’t keep score while training, but then again, I rarely shoot above 570 in competition or in training.

Well done either way✌️

Thanks! It doesn't translate yet, since I haven't competed. :/
I've been doing this on and off since 2014 but then I got crazy at the beginning of the lockdown and I've shot 60-100 shots a day now since May of last year.
There's a local league here that's hopefully coming back once things ease up. I used to compete in shotgun so I'm used to shooting consistent scores under pressure, but I'm sure it'll be a while before I score a 570+ under pressure.

Wow! 577 for McMadCow outstanding!

Given the only recorded scores above "McMadCow's" during the Olympic qualifications were:
578 15Dec2019 (C-Springs)
580 16Dec2019 (C-Springs)
577, 580; 25Feb2020 (Ft. Benning)
580 26Feb2020 (Ft. Benning)

Perhaps, one should actually show up for an official competition, lest another call "BULLSHIT" on this whole postal-match b.s.

I've had my LP500 for 4 months. I've had my P44 for 7 years before that.
I do plan on shooting in competitions when things open back up and I have no illusions that I can shoot a 577 on demand, But if you're suggesting I'm making up scores for anonymous internet e-peen, look elsewhere. I've been doing this casually for years but since the lockdown started I've shot almost every single day. Well over 20K shots according to my ammo receipts. I'm making absolutely zero claims about being an elite shooter just because I can post a good score out of a pool of 30 sessions in a month.

I am here so say that there is a big difference between your best cherry picked score of the month and what you could do on demand. Back when I could shoot 570s in the basement, I went to the Nationals, and turned in a 558 and 560. The stress of travel, being shoulder to shoulder with other people, a change of lighting, and a myriad of other factors took me out of my comfort zone.

I for one believe a 577 can be shot in a month. I don't think there is a stipulation that you have to only shoot one match, and turn in those scores. I am turning in my best for the month. If that's not correct please let us know.

Brent, I understand what your saying. Our state has a postal match consisting of 120 shots, 20 shots per week, they are provided and numbered. You mail them back in and you are scored for the match. The only scored targets are the numbered ones, you can practice all you want on your own targets.
Since this is a league without provided targets, it's more informal. I must applaud the great scores that are shot and have no reason to doubt them, there's no prizes to go for, only self goals and satisfaction. When it cools off I will enter also, but not until then, my garage setup is hot as Hades.

It's been a busy month for me. I shot six "matches". The scores in order were: 547, 555, 547, 558, 540, & 553. I'm pretty happy with this month as I'm shooting scores about were I was when I took a break from 10m AP about 5 years ago. The challenge I have to overcome is running out of stamina / focus on the last few targets. In the case of each of the 550s the fifth or sixth target was in the high 80s.

This months submission:

558 - 95, 93, 98, 92, 92, 88

RWS Basic

First time here, EX class bullseye shooter, bought a Steyr LP-10 off gunbroker, made a duct seal box/trap in my basement.

78, 83, 85-1x, 83-2x, 90, 90 = 509-3x

Dang, these 10m air pistol x's are hard to come by, aren't they?!

Indeed they are.
Yet, you encouraged me to shoot a 60 for the next month— as I am just a beginner, it seems difficult even catching 500 let alone coming over the disappointment of shooting the white.
Great start.
