I am looking to buy some practice targets to use at a indoor range.

If no one is making a target, I will just find one that has a 17/8" - 2" black and go with that.

The NSRA 1989 25 yard target is proportional to the ISSF 50m target. The 10 ring doesn't like it is, because it's outward (worst edge) gauging. Available from the NSRA.

Free pistol targets?

The 50m free pistol target reduced for 25 yds is the B-35. Available from Kruger targets, Midway, National Targets, etc.

Sorry; wasn't thinking and made the assumption you were talking pistol. I don't know about rifle targets.

I have been buying TQ-2 smallbore target from National Target Co for use with load testing 9mm and 38Spcl.



This is a 75 foot target with a 2.3" black bull on heavy target paper, not a photocopy on office paper. They are, as you can see, individual bulls, but that makes them easy for me to store in a recipe box. With pistols, I have the need to look back at targets as I research older pistol loads, so that works for me.

If you will tell them what club you're with, or what youth group, there are substantial price reductions over prices shown on their web site.

A 2.3in aiming mark is a little larger than a true scaled 50m target, but probably viable with a larger foresight.

Use scatt to get an accurately scaled target then print your own on the back side of a cutdown (so it will fit the printer) target

Tim..... The 2.3 inch bull is probably correct. Scaling the Targets outside diameter soes NOT take into account the fact that the bullet diameter is the same at both distances. If you look at the NRA rulebook for pistols, you will see examples of what I mean..... The 50 yard and 25 yard targets are not 2/1 ratios.....

I'm aware that the bullet doesn't get bigger, but that doesn't mean the aiming mark can't be proportional. I shoot on the British 1989 pattern targets. The 25 yard target, has an aiming mark 2. 02in/51.39mm diameter. The 50 yard target is 4.04in/102.78mm, and the 100 yard aiming mark is 8.09in/205.55mm. The 10 ring is doubled from 25 to 50*, but at 100 yards is 2.9x greater to account for grouping. NSRA staff conducted tests in the 1980s to confirm this, and the UIT did so too in the 1950s.

*The 25 yard 10-ring is larger on paper than the 50 yard (12.9 vs 9mm) but 25 yard targets (and 20/15yds) gauge outwards and 50/100 gauge inwards. Maximum C-C groups to score 10s are 7.3 vs 14. 6mm.
