Aptitude test for this week...

Post by Leon »

Would anyone like to hazard a guess what this is, or what is it from?

The mystery part looks finely made, has a "straw" type finish, is a broken piece from a larger part and inspection of the "break" shows it's from a casting, or MIM part.

I just found it on my garage floor, where my reloading bench is.

Almost directly above the spot where I found it, I have a Hornady LNP AP mounted. A quick look at the schematic doesn't show anything that looks like it.

As a matter of coincidence, I have another Hornady LNP AP mounted to the left, and the shell plate carrier on this one has stopped rotating - which I still have to investigate.

Again, nothing looks similar on the schematic.

Thoughts? Wild guesses?

Now look for the other piece, suggest starting with your car tyre.

Haha - my wife's car is closer.

A big shout out to Hornady's Customer Service..

I contacted them and they responded quickly, saying that they are express shipping a replacement part.

I’ve always gotten excellent customer service on my Hornady reloading equipment for the few times
I’ve needed it.
