Some time ago I acquired a FWB 601, clearly marked as such, but with an anti recoil tube like that on the 603. I thought it might have been a one off experimental modification by a riflesmith except that the workmanship was exceptionally neat, as if ex factory. I could find no one who had ever heard of or seen such a rifle. This included the Pilkington staff who, presumably see more air rifles in a week than most of us see in a lifetime. Then, after some contemplation I wrote to the FWB company and asked if they knew of such a rifle. They kindly replied that around 1999 FWB Installed 603 technology on some 601 rifles. They did not know the number of such modifications but thought it was a small number and my rifle was one of them.
My question to you is: Have any of you ever seen or heard of this apparently rare modification? I ask to try and judge the rarity of my rifle. Thanks for your help. James Storm

Re: Rare Factory modified FWB 6o1
Very interesting discussion. The rifles like mine seem to be 603 s except for some stock and sight differences. Are there organized collectors groups interested in FWB rifles? Thanks very much for your reply Jim
