Cape safari? BTW I heard that head-shots on cape buffalo are a no-no. Tends to make the beasts mad and bent on revenge.

The pic above was taken at one of Bill Poole's famed Safari Rifle shoots at Phoenix Rod & Gun. I'm holding my custom .411 KDF.

BTW I made two brain shots on the charging buff, and two more on the standing buff.

Man, you should see some of the classic "African" rifles that come to this match! Very knowledgeable shooters, too.

A Safari rifle shoot!
I thought it was something like that. I see a couple Ruger #1s, maybe a commercial Mauser,... And, does that one guy on your right have a double rifle?

So, do you roll the buffalo down the hill and open fire?

"So, do you roll the buffalo down the hill and open fire?"

Nah, a guy pulls it while running through the gunfire.

BTW Last shoot we had several double rifles. One was loaded with 115gr black powder over a 15gr smokeless starter. Made the hills echo nicely.

Poole had 3 or 4 Ruger #1s with him.

That looks like a really fun event!
I love the criteria specifying the old British nitro cartridges. But, does the 20 shot overall course of fire take it's toll recoil-wise?
That double in the picture above sure is an oldie with the backlocks and underlever.

Maybe you should add a pistol side event where you can use a 45 cal (or up) howdah?

Thanks for posting, and sharing the event links.

Best Regards,
Jim
