De La Rosa, Men’s Air Pistol Team Win Bronze at WSPS World Cup
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (November 9, 2017)
Marco De La Rosa (San Antonio, Texas) won bronze today in P1 (Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1) at the World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS, formerly IPC) World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.
De la Rosa qualified for the Final with a score of 557. Once in the Final, De La Rosa hovered in fourth place until the 19th shot when De La Rosa shot a 9.6 and then third-place athlete Jungnam Kim of South Korea shot a 6.6, moving De La Rosa into third and eliminating Kim one shot later. Deepender Singh and Manish Narwal – both of India – won the gold and silver medals. De la Rosa also won silver in this event at the 2016 World Cup in Szczecin, Poland.
De La Rosa, along with teammates Shaun Tichenor (Brainerd, Minnesota) and Aaron Causey (Riverside, Alabama) also claimed a team bronze medal for their cumulative performances. Tichenor finished in 19th place with a score of 535 and Causey finished in 21st place with a score of 532.
Also competing today in the R1 (Men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1) event was Nick Beach (Dresden, Ohio) who finished in 22nd place.
