Any leads on a nice hard case that this pistol will fit in for transport and storage? Looking for something that has real hinges, lockable, little extra room for tools and accessories?

I’d recommend the ASG Dan Wesson revolver case. It’s virtually the same case provided by many match pistol manufacturers. You can easily remove the logo with some isopropyl alcohol. Do a switcheroo with the precut foam and use the uncut upper foam to customize your FWB 65/80.

Is the logo embossed into the plastic, or just painted on? I'd prefer not to have anything that even vaguely says "Firearms" on it after the paint is removed.

The same case is available from Negrini without the logo, but it's special order and about twice the price.

Appreciate the leads, the Wesson case looks like a winner. Unable to accept a lock but i will get over it for the price.

Actually, if you select the padlock carefully, you can put one around the upper & lower handles when the case is closed. The shackle on many combination locks isn't big enough to go around the handles. I have several of this style case, and use this kind of lock:



These have a wider shackle that works very nicely.

Painful experience lets me advocate a case from Peli:

I stumbled on the stairway, nearly broke my leg and was 'hors de combat' for several days. The case and its content (Walther GSP plus spotting scope) were completey unimpressed..The warranty excludes only shark attacs and children under 2 years (or so I read a couple of years ago).

Well, I bought two of the Dan Wesson cases from Pyramyd. So far regular denatured alcohol won't touch the paint. I'll try acetone next & report back

Careful- that may attack the plastic. I suggest a black Sharpie marker.

The case is made from polypropylene, it's resistant to acetone.

ASA, did you say you were unimpressed with your Pelican case (which model) and was the pistol and scope damaged when the case fell down the stairway?

Acetone will do it, and leaves no noticeable effect on the plastic. The trick is that the acetone evaporates very quickly, and it takes it quite a while to soften the paint. I used cotton swabs to remove the trademark (R), and it took a lot of scrubbing until I realized I needed to flood it somehow & keep it wet. That will require more acetone & doing it outdoors.

I think the secret will be to put a piece of paper towel over the painted area, and soak that with acetone. Then, to avoid evaporation, put a piece of polyethylene bag over the wet towel. With a good soaking like that, I think most of it will come off easily. As the acetone evaporates, it should also pull the dissolved paint into the towel.

I've had good luck with this $28 case from Harbor Freight. It has perforated foam to create cutouts to fit whatever shape you can come up with. Has several areas for storage and a carry strap. It is lockable but that infamous 2 year old could probably get in given enough time.

I cut the stitching between smaller slots to make bigger ones. The 2 in the center each hold a tin of pellets


Big enuf for my LP50 Compact (or full size), xtra cyl and tool kit +. The foam holds everything snug when closed.

I would second the Harbor Freight case. Works great. I got and then went to mycasebuilder.com and designed the foam for my FWB Mod 2. made place for pellet box, extra tube and other accessories. Worked awesomely. I pitched that tool holder in the top and just made to bottom foam thicker to fill the void. Worked great, of course with the cost of the custom cut foam, I probably spent more than I should have, but had fun designing the foam cutout.

Cheap case, but good and sturdy.

Actually, it was the other way round: The case and its content did not show any damage - me and the stairway experienced damage. Me limping for the rest of the week (happened on Monday) and two of the hardwood steps had some deep marks. The peli case is a model 1500 (admittedly an overkill for transporting a Walther GSP but great for a MEADE ETX125 scope).
