Anyone could give some info on what process do I, as a private person in the US, have to follow in order to sell my rifle to another private person in the US or internationally?

Basic rules. You cannot export a firearm without a horrendous amount of paperwork. Not even to Canada. Probably no chance at all to some countries.

In the United States- Depending on the State you live in, a face to face sale could be possible with no paperwork. Some States require evan private sales can only be to a permit holder.

To sell a firearm to someone out of state, you will need to ship to an FFL in that state. Some will accept a firearm from a private individual, some will only accept it from another FFL Dealer.

The rules in your state could be from basic to very restrictive. You need to know how restrictive

Sales within missouri, to missouri residents who you do not reasonably believe to be a prohibited person (convicted felon, misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence ect...) can bd conducted face to face, or via mail without involving an ffl.

A buyer in another state must recieve the firearm from an ffl. This means you will havd to ship it to a gun shop local to the buyer, and it will be recorded as a transaction in the stores bound book.

What state is your buyer located in?
Is the sale in question actually a firearm, or an air rifle?

smallbore rifle, I'm just in the planning stages so I don't have a buyer yet.

That should answer most of your questions. That's the federal side of things. Ensure you know both your own and the buyer's state laws before selling.

Do not attempt exportation without the help of an FFL.

The buyers state and ffl govern the transaction for a long gun. A private party in state A can sell a long gun to a buyer in state B. The firearm must be shipped to an ffl in state B. Some ffl s will not accept shipments from non ffl s because they want to actually sell you a gun instead of handling transfers. You can put a firearm in the US Mail providing it goes to an ffl and you have a copy of the license. As an aside he can also ship it back to you if for example you shipped it to him for repair.

I have found an ffl near me that will accept shipments for transfer for a reasonable price from non ffl. Another retail gun shop in town threatened to have me arrested for having a long gun shipped from an non ffl. It was pure bluster and BS.

The problem is if you want to ship it from an ffl to an ffl your shipper ffl will want his pound of flesh too. I suggest your buyer find an ffl who is not part of a retail operation but does business on his kitchen table. Almost every gun club has someone who will do this.

LAstly what kind of smallbore rifle do you want to sell?

Sure, it is an Anschutz 690/2013 ALU precise stock, right handed. Currently has a lilja barrel and starik tube (less than 5000 rds on the new barrel), but can get it with original anschutz barrel (both tested at eley).

But as a Canadian, if I can get a long gun to the border all I need to do to import it is declare it, and show the Customs Officer my PAL (licence).

A handgun is more difficult. But just need someone stateside to hold onto the firearm until the RCMP registers the firearm in the Canadian Gun Registry and that gets transferred to me. Then I can bring it over the border with the paperwork and RPAL.

But I have heard that US authorities could have a say if you get caught before reaching the Canadian Customs.

Would that mean I can sell the rifle (legally of course) to someone here and that person can take it out of the country without him/her or me as the seller having issues with the US Customs or other law enforcement agencies ?
I am also sure that person would also have to "legalize" the firearm in the country of arrival....

Like I said, there may be export restrictions. If I go down to the US, buy a rifle, and drive home, Canadian Customs has no reason to stop me.

US law enforcement might catch me at a checkpoint before leaving and enforce any export limitations.

I'm no lawyer and I have yet to import anything from the US.

And I think if I got caught by US authorities I'd be in violation of this:

There is the website IRUNGUNZ that has their US FFL and specialises in getting firearms into Canada.

This is where I think all of the associations that claim to be looking out for our gun rights fail us. They should have assembled clear instructions and forms so that the process is easy to follow and for any gun owner to navigate the bureaucracy as easily as possible.
