Just finished watching the replay of the prone final in Baku. Nice to see Martynov in a final again
and he is still using his trusty 1913. Looking at some of his shots it seems he takes a single breath
for his shot once he is in position.

I am also starting to move to 1 inhale/exhale technique as I find that 3 breaths takes too long over many
shots and the sight picture does not improve for me. I have switched to 2 breaths with no problems but
now even that is starting to feel a bit drawn-out.

I have seen some shooters get great scores with one breath and very little wait. As soon as the dot is in the
middle of the ring they take the shot and don't wait for it to stay perfect for more than a second.
I'm not sure that suits my temperament.

The winner, Henri Junghanel, seems to take his time on the shot. In some instances almost 12 seconds between the end of the last exhale and the shot sounding off.

A fascinating video. Junghaenel's repeated looking down to refresh his eyes - watch his eyelashes - I found very instructive. I also noticed that most of the finalists, unless I have it wrong, seem to have their slings very low on their arms, almost at the elbow. I always thought that it was more usual to have the sling higher up. I certainly do, so the discrepancy worries me. Is it just personal preference or is there a good reason for adopting a low sling position?

Shooters with long arms that are well extended, noticed the low left shoulders, tend to use a low sling position. High and low positions avoid pulse from the artery. I changed to a low sling when I damaged my shoulder; never went back.

I had seen pictures of Martynov shooting a Bleiker so it was great joy (for someone shooting a 1807) seeing Martynov shooting his non-tubed 1913 in a wood stock.

Martynov wasn't the only one to leave their Bleiker at home. Valerian Sauveplane went back to his Borlov to win the 3x40.

Borlov! Don't know that manufacturer. I was wondering if it was a custom rifle
Sauveplane used. Could not make out what it was by looking at the action.

I don't know much of Borlov either. He was based in Switzerland, that I do know, and made rifles from the '80s, maybe earlier. I think Alister Allen used a Borlov to take Silver at Seoul '88. The bolt looks quite like a Tanner, and the trigger is an Anschutz 5018. You can just see the Borlov signature in photos. I first thought it was a Unique T2000 action, but that is round topped.
