air pistol outside gauge
How does an air pistol outside gauge with magnifier work? I understand how an air rifle outside gauge function. My question is the air pistol gauge has a large copper disc that is clearly much larger than .177, blocking the glass. How can I use the magnifying part of the gauge??
Re: air pistol outside gauge
there are Air Pistol outside gauges with magnifier?
Re: air pistol outside gauge
Spencer, there are indeed AP outside gauges with magnifiers. I have one, use it every time I shoot AP and get a tough-to-score shot.
Conradin, use it like any other outside gauge, the outside of the large disk is what you look at. This is not an inside gauge, you do not need to see just the .177 part. If you want to see just the .177, get a .177 inside pin.

6.3.5.10 Use of Air Pistol OUTWARD scoring gauge
The “A” illustration depicts a doubtful shot hole with the outward
scoring gauge in place. The outside edge of the flange is within
the 9 ring; therefore the shot is scored a 10.
The “B” illustration depicts a doubtful shot hole with the outward
scoring gauge in place. The outside edge of the flange is lying
over the 9 ring line and into the 8 zone; therefore the shot is
scored a 9.
