I've used mine outside three or four times a week over two winter seasons in the UK and it's never missed a beat. Same with my LP50 over one winter season, no problems with cold weather.

I had a problem several years ago with an LP-50, but it wasn't temperature dependent. I forget if it was the cylinder or the fill adapter, but something was out of spec & wouldn't go together. I think it was the fill adapter, and I got it replaced. Fortunately, the team I coach has a few Steyr's. so I could swap stuff around to see what the culprit was.

It may be that the OP's is just a really close at room temperature, and the different expansion coefficients is causing interference when cold. That would only make sense if the mating parts were different metals, but I think everything is aluminum, so that is a long shot.
