Pardini Recoil Buffer

While cleaning the SP tonight in anticipation of a match tomorrow I discovered that the pieced of plastic I found on the floor last week looked familiar for a reason. They were my recoil buffer. It looks like I have shot for at least a week without one.

When I checked the buffer spring length I discovered that it has compressed around 3/4 of an inch from the new one I bought when I bought while waiting for the gun to arrive from the previous owner. I replaced this as well.

Just a warning to any new pardini owners out there. It's a good idea to check the back of the frame for the buffer everytime you clean. Particularly with a used gun. I know that mine was intact when I bought it, but I also know that I've put at least 1k rounds through it in the past month. I started getting ALOT of off call shots the other night and had actually wondered if the barrel was loose.

Now it's off to order 2 of them along with a new spare recoil spring.

I purchased a used FAS603 and the buffer had deteriorated with age. When I removed it, it resembled crumbled Blue Cheese.

So, yes. It is a good idea to keep an eye on the buffer when cleaning.
