Hi guys, Ive been looking into different red dot sight and cant quite figure out which one would be best for me.

I plan on tossing an rds on a lp50 with a wire stock.

I currently own a trijicon acog with an rmr attached but it is the 8moa dot version which is way to big for my shooting. Ill probably put it up for sale as i havnt used it since the army. Ive always like very thin reticules on my scopes.

95% of my shooting will be 8-20m paper and homemade extra small spinners.

just a acouple questions:

What reticles do you guys like? Im thinking that a triangle would be alright as i can zero it in on the tip for precise shot placement. I could probably do the same thing though with a dot though.

I have never tried any of the tube style rds, what are they like?

Has anyone tried either the burris fastfire 3 or the leupold deltapoint?

Any recommendations? trying to keep the setup as light as possible

I like my Burris Fastfire III a lot. Extremely small and light, easy to use and change batteries, easy to adjust zero. The first click is automatic brightness, using a front-facing sensor. Tends to be too bright for me as I like a small dot and not overly bright. But if I were using it for quick fire it'd probably stay in that mode. Second is really bright and the dot seems to be rather big, good on sunny days. Third click is moderately bright, quite small seeming, good on overcast days. I favour the fourth click most. Very dim little dot. Extremely small. I've hit a 1" target from 35 metres with it on my Brocock Atomic PCP pistol and felt confident using it at that range with such a small dot.

The Leupold looks awesome... but pricey I think.

My guess is the fellow isn't asking about ISSF pistol matches. Yes, sure, he posted this in a silly place... perhaps a kindly moderator could move the post to a more relevant thread? As he said:

So yeah, not exactly looking for advice on which red dot to buy for use in 10m AP competition, is he?

You will really be spoiled by the trigger on the Steyr.
Are you using a 3.5 -4 lb trigger pull?

I bought the LP50 used it came with the 1911 grip and the light and heavy trigger kits plus an extra heavy spring, I can get it up to 4 1/2 lbs. I added the rail and FFII. Once I got it set up and adjusted it feels close the roll triggers I have in my Bullseye guns even thought it's not a straight back pull. It's nice to be able to practice with either iron or dot sights.

After shooting it for a couple of weeks I took it out to our AP practice league and shot the ISSF 10M target but using the Bullseye rapid fire commands (5 shots in 10 sec.) and shot a 540 and at that time it was only 12 points short of my personal best with my LP10E.
