Any Good?

Anyone have a pet load with these using

W231

Bullseye

or

WST

I like 4.1/4.2 WST 200gn SWC

3.6 Bullseye

And so far I have failed to find a W231 recipe that shoots bad

4.6 seems good for me using 200gn swc and 5.2 on the long line.

Are you using iron sights or a scope? If using a scope, is it slide mounted?

4.3 GR WST VERY ACCURATE JP

I loaded up some WST with the zero 185's LSWCHP and managed to shoot a 92 slowfire last weekend.

Only had 3.8gr of WST. Its a load I usually use for the short line.

I usually shoot 4.4 of WST with the 185 JHP's at the long line but had absent mindedly brought my hardball bullets to the range.

I have also had success with 4.3 of WST with the 185 LSWCHP's.

ETA: I shoot with a frame mounted red dot.

4.3 WST hard to beat, I am down to 4.1 during the summer, you get by with 3.8? WOW how dirty must feel like a 22 LR. Are you using a #10 spring?

I would use the lightest charge that would function reliably and is accurate at 50 yards. You will probably have to test. If your gun functions well with 3.6 grains of bullseye, I would use that as a base line and load test loads, increasing .2 of a grain at a time. My slide mounted gun likes 3.8 grains of Bullseye, but won't reliably function with it in cold weather, so I use 4.0 grains of Alliant Bulllseye.

I shoot a 6-in. Rock River with an 11-lb recoil spring; my standard load is 4.1 gr Bullseye, Fed primers, same brand brass (mostly Starline and R-P) gives wonderful accuracy off a rest (the illusive potential...). I don't remember the OAL, but bullets are seated just a tad above the bullet's shoulder.

Shiny Zero HPs are the most beautiful cast bullet I have ever seen. The hollow point design creates a bullet with a longer shoulder, which I suspect is the basis of its inherent accuracy. Dipnet

Yes very good. I like my running a tad faster so shoot with 4.0~4.2 Bullseye (Lee 0.49cc disc) I had a bit of leading near the chamber. Last batch I coated with Lee Liquid Alox (LLA) and they worked perfect. That is what I shot at Perry. I used Zero 185 JHP at the long line and the SWCHP on the short line. Every shot was on call and no leading. Very pleased with results.

The LLA treatment coats the bullets in a thin layer of alox lube. I roll them around in a small coffee can then dump onto an old cookie sheet. Shake to get them down to one layer. I shake the cookie sheet to loosen them up. After a few days they dry to a tacky feel and shoot great without leading in the throat area.

To answer your initial question. Yes they are good, and I suspect pretty much any powder will make them accurate if done properly.

I have shot the Zero and the Magnus versions which both look to be similar to the old Star 185 swaged.
Use 4.0 BE. Have used down to 3.8 but 4.0 seems to tighten them up and doesn't offer much more in the way of recoil.

Got a sample today the look very nice. flat base which I like but they load easy peezee .

Loaded a little longer than seems like 1.225 to 1.235 is the right oal with that bullet.

Started at 4.6 w231 star line brass and winchester primers. 4.6 cycles my les Baer with a 13# spring with cast hg68 from cjn or penn so I am hoping these work.

My dad is a master but has not competed since the 1980s but he always says that swagged is the way to go I ordered 2k and the price was good.

Every time I drop into a thread on Zero bullets, I am encouraged to order some and give them a go.

Problem has been, I can't find them available for sale.

Would love to try them in my Baer BE wadcutter. It can be fussy.

What's the secret source? Promise not to tell.

Call them direct pricing on 2000 was reasonable as it included shipping 198 I think. About $10 more than Penn or CJN which where I usually order. Some casters will carry their jHP.

They will send free samples of ten bullets. Their HG 68 looks nice in 200gn. I have had such good luck with CJN Casting 185s I would not use any other.

19 of 20 bullets I checked weighed 186 gn and the off one was 183gn.

4.4gn of 700x is a great load. Shot a 97 a few hours ago at the long line.

I shot the Zero 185g lead hollow points at a match yesterday with 4.0g of Bullseye, They seemed a bit hotter than the 4.2 of Titegroup I usually use for my long line loads, but they were plenty accurate.

I like them.

Run 100% in my Les Baers and Kimber. (either frame or slide mounted)

They nose in my Springfield at light loads, slide mounted dot.

I hear the Bulleye load is 3.8/3.9 for that bullet.

I am using 4.6 W231, 4.4 works but too dirty.

Anyone wipe them down, is mineral spirits ok?
