USA Shooting To Attend 2014 NRA Annual Meeting

Post by USA Shooting »

A busy shooting industry show season comes to an end this week but not before USA Shooting Team staff and athletes attend the 2014 National Rifle Association (NRA) Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, April 25-27.

The 2014 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits taking place at the Indiana Convention Center features over 600 of the most spectacular displays of firearms, shooting and hunting accessories in the world all contained within 400,000 square feet of exhibit space.

Among the exhibitors will be the USA Shooting Team in booth #8251 with guest appearances by USA Shooting Team members Amanda Furrer (Spokane, Wash.), Sarah Beard (Danville, Ind.) and Ashley Carroll (Solvang, Calif.).

Athletes will be present to sign autographs while also presenting information about the USA Shooting Team and Olympic-style shooting events and opportunities. Athletes will also make appearances at select USA Shooting Team sponsors that help support America’s shooting team including Kimber, Winchester and ELEY.

It will be a homecoming for Beard who is happy to return home while being an ambassador for USA Shooting. On Twitter Tuesday, Beard, an avid outdoorswoman, thanked NRA for their fortuitous timing around the state’s opening of spring turkey season. “Props to whoever in @NRA who scheduled #NRAAM the same week as opening turkey day in Indiana #PerfectTiming.” Beard earned three medals at the 2013 USA Shooting National Championships, winning both prone and three-position rifle events and finishing third in air rifle. She’ll be looking to make the 2014 World Championships team beginning May 9 in Ft. Benning, Ga., when she participates in a Rifle/Pistol Selection Match.

Beard, whose father won a silver medal at the 1982 World Shooting Championships and was on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team in Los Angeles, was recently featured in the NRA publication Third Century NRA http://home.nra.org/pdf/thirdcenturynra ... _mar18.pdf. In that article, she states: “Shooting has allowed me to find who I am. I love the intense attention to detail, striving for perfection and learning to love the pressure. But even more than this, I have found a community within competitive shooting.”

Furrer is a 2012 Olympian in rifle who has a wide following among shooting enthusiasts. She earned her Olympic Team spot after winning the Olympic Trials in 2012 in the three-position rifle event. A graduate of Ohio State University, Furrer is ready for another Olympic run.

Carroll is an up-and-coming International Trap Shooter, who recently scored Team USA’s top finish at the World Cup event in Tucson, Ariz. She’s climbed atop the podium in two of the last three Selection Match events and moved to the Olympic Training Center in January to solidify her training routine as she keeps her sights set on Rio and the 2016 Olympic Games. She was featured in the Year in Review issue of USA Shooting News as an Athlete to Watch,

This one-of-a-kind pistol is dressed with elegant engraving that covers 95% of the pistol. The pistol also features both the USA Shooting Team and Kimber logos in 24K gold, and wears smooth ivory grips. This pistol is chambered in .45 ACP.
