russian free pistol?

Post by madmax »

Does anyone know about a free pistol which appears to be Russian? Is a similar style to the Toz35 mechanically, and would appear to be of a similar vintage to the Toz and the early Hammerli. Different grips, but front sight is almost the same as the Toz. It is marked 'IJ'.

Depending on the age it could be a MU55 by either a early Vostok or a later Baikal version.
Does it look like this ?

Could be an IJ-1. If the trigger set lever is a flat arm that sticks out of the forend wood, I'd say that is it's identity. Only ever saw two of them in Alberta.

Yup, that is the type I remember. Up to the OP to evaluate.
