Training free pistol without actually shooting

So, we have national championship competition in about 20 days.
Local shooting range is open only on tuesday and even then only at 10/25m distances.

I´m not a big fan of dry firing but that seems to be only way to train fp if -and when- I want to get at least some kind of score and not be the last one on the score sheet.

Can you give me tips on good exercises (dry fire, triggering, holding, aiming etc.) without actually shooting the pistol?

Training at 25m is no handicap. The 50m target looks the same--blurry.

It doesn't matter if you're not a fan of dry fire, however, if you want to shoot well with the facilities you have, you need to dry fire. Do some research on here to find out how to do it correctly. Some tips from me:

don't just go through the motions of dry fire. You will get worse. It takes lots of concentration.

Holding exercises alone will help, however, I prefer to do them without the pistol. I don't want to get into the habit of watching how pretty the sights look without the gun going bang. I use weights for holding exercises that are meant to build muscle stamina. I also attach a small weight to my Hammerli 162 while dry firing.

Some people use dumb bells for weight training.

Just do not follow instructions for making the new target!
New diameter =( standard diameter * new distance) / standard distance

I know Bill Demerest trained at 25yds and had the world record for free pistol with finals before the format change.

I think you can lean a lot more from dry firing and keep your scores on par with your average if not improve them by dry fire training only. I have done it with good results. Over a 4 month period I only shot about 250 rounds but was dry firing 2-3 times a week for about 20 mins. When the match I was training for I shot a 545. Before that 4 month period had not picked up my Toz in 8 months since the same match the precious year.

I tend to spend most of my time really trying to focus on the front sight and trying to make sure it is in perfect focus. Since I have a good hold this seems to really help me.

Ok, I´ll print a small target and dry fire at it.
Not much more I can do..
