I visited the firing line while the shooting was in progress.
Here are the pistols in use by these top .22 shooters at Camp Perry.
Hämmerli 208s . . . . . . . . . 6
Marvel Conversions . . . . . .4
Pardini . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2
S&W Model 41 . . . . . . . . . .2
IZH-35 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1
Total . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .15
All had red dot scopes except for one Pardini shot by Emil.
Don't ask who shot which pistol, as I didn't note this info.

Is this the Mayleigh International Pistol Postal Match?Slo cat wrote:

If so the Brits have always used open sights, at least the times when I was on the team they did, that was quite a few years ago so the rules may have changed.
Perhaps it was always allowed but under National Smallbore Rifle Association(GB) rules we only use open sights. Practical pistol and National Rifle Association(GB) allow scopes, red dots etc in some competitions.
Yes, it the Mayleigh Cup International Postal Match, NRA. I asked one of the Canadian witnesses many years ago about dot sights for USA versus open sights most every where else. The consensus was that since most of the time the other countries were indoor and the USA was outdoor, the countries involved kinda called it a wash (even). Don't know how much truth to apply to the whole idea, but apparently the Canadians didn't care.
As far as I know, its never been an issue.

I am not saying that Red dot v Open sights is a problem it is all down to the "Nut on the Butt" (Butt meaning grip in the UK)CR10X wrote:The consensus was that since most of the time the other countries were indoor and the USA was outdoor, the countries involved kinda called it a wash (even). For info, in the UK this match is shot outdoors.
