Problem with Feinwerkbau 2700 trigger

I have a problem with the trigger on my Feinwerkbau 2700
If I take up the first pressure of the two stage trigger the release my finger off the trigger the first impression doesn't release , so when I have a second crack at the shot I am now dealing with a very touchy single stage trigger
I have read the manual but there is nothing mentioned regarding this , Anybody dealt with this issue and know the answer ?

I've never dealt with that on a FWB trigger, but on an Anschutz:
1. It is usually caused by trying to make the first stage too light (or both stages too light). There isn't enough spring tension to reset the first stage if the shot isn't taken. Heavy up the first stage and see if that fixes it.
2. Another possibility is the sear is set too close and is hanging up. Try a little more sear overlap.
3. Trigger is worn and needs some rework by a competent gunsmith. If the sear is rounded some it could cause catching like you mention.
Try these fixes in order. If one of them works you probably don't need to go any further.

For me on my FWB 700 it was number two on Eric's list. Someone had fiddled with the sear engagement and it lost its ability to regain the first stage. Further proving the point in the manual to essentially NEVER touch that pesky little number (IIRC) 14 screw. ;)

Thanks for your advice
The manual and adjustments are not clear to me
only 3 adjustments
1. Trigger weight , but makes no mention if this is first / second or both so must assume it is final release weight ?
2. Trigger slack -
3. Trigger point , states has been factory set and should not need adjusting, then describes how to remove creep
my trigger also has a fault that I have lived with as I don't use the safety anyway but are mentioning in case it could be related , If you pull the trigger with the safety on it doesn't fire ( correct ) as soon as you move the the safety to fire position the rifle goes off while your hand is no where near the trigger ?? . If you bump the safety on and this happens you have to open the bolt shift the safety lever then re close the bolt to avoid it going off
Thanks for your quick response as i have had no response from Feinwerkbau to date

Have a good look at trigger parts that rotate about pins, I found that they did not easily rotate & were sticky. Plastic part was very tight and needed to be lapped out. Check lubrication.

I had exactly same problem on my FWB circa 2001. Very annoyed at FWB since I have used their rifles since early 80's but cost pressures appear to have affected their quality. I resolved my problem by removing safety lever parts. Since sold this rifle to fellow club member but not sure about trigger/safety status - they changed barrel (was short barrel model - another mistake from FWB). The owner shoots extremely well with this rifle nowadays.
Further on sticky trigger stage, I achieved satisfactory results when trigger parts would freely spin about the pin. Needed 800 grade wet & dry paper to achieve this - not too loose. Also prefer to use oil & not grease for lubrication.

Thanks for all your help on this, must say still have not received any help or advice from Feinwerkbau except for a question asking me if I was using it as a single or two stage trigger , the description of the problem I was having I would have though it obvious , I replied but haven't heard back.
I cleaned the trigger and followed suggested adjustments from this site to no avail. I had a replacement sear & spring ( sent to me to try and fix a faulty safety ) but haven't found anybody who could fit it for me.
I decided out of desperation to pull my trigger apart and fit these parts myself , Good news the trigger is fixed , the safety was still faulty so I have removed these parts altogether on the basis of no saftey is better than a faulty one.
Now what is the best lubricants for the sear & swivel points in the trigger now I have it all back and working again.

"Now what is the best lubricants for the sear & swivel points in the trigger now I have it all back and working again."
Good question, this incident occurred over 10 years ago on my rifle so relying on memory. But I wanted no grease because I believe over time temperature and dust will compromise the sensitive rotating parts movement and bring the problem back. I think I used gun oil mixed with a specialist product to make the oil "sticky" but still have low viscosity. I will check tomorrow and see if I can find it and let you know brand & type.
Adding oil or any other lubricant may see problem of stage hang up return.
If you see any trigger stage hang up then it is not difficult to remove circlip retaining the critical pins - just be careful the circlip doesn't fly off and you loose it. Then place pin in a battery powered drill to polish using fine grade wet & dry. Once the trigger part and pin freely rotate then you are ok. I think one of my FWB rifles had a trigger part with burr inside the hole or something like it, so use a good magnifying glass to check this point, otherwise you could be polishing without effect.
I don't recall the trigger sears needing anything special.
When I sold my 2700 I made it clear safety had been removed and reason why.

Just thought my problem may have been in the air rifle but I would have bet smallbore rifle & air rifles used almost identical triggers. Also FWB circa 2001 ought to be 2602 model or something. Can you post photo showing trigger assembly?
I am certain about the safety having to be removed.

Ok, checked my rifles on hand, ie models 600, 2000 (std rifle), P70 & P700. Also went to
http://www.feinwerkbau.de/en/Service+Do ... d-drawings and checked models 2602 vs 2700.
I stand by my previous comment that if you experience hang up of stage then remove trigger assembly, knock pins out and check running clearance is present on key trigger parts. Look for burrs or tight fits. On reassembly check pin won't fall out of housing, ie secure by tiny drop of loctite.
I am pretty sure I used lubricant 50:50 mix of gun oil and Penrite hi performance 2stroke oil on rotating trigger parts. But that's what I thought was best at the time.
Good luck.
