With all the hoarding and panic buying that the media are reporting on, going on in the States with firearms and ammo.
What are the chances that little or no exports will turn up in any other country this year ?
The last time this happened, we in Australia had a ammo, powder and primer shortage for about 18 months which still has not quite recovered.

Why spend money shipping it around the world when you can sell all you can make at just about any price at home. So I suspect there will be shortages for the near future. At least until those in the States feel comfortable that leadership is not going to take away their rights (so I suspect at least the next 4 years will be lean).

Well, mate, we have been having a primer shortage here for over a year now and it is only getting worse. And I noticed that the powder selection at the local Sportsman's Paradise (a WalMart of outdoor sports) is a lot thinner than it was a few months ago when last I checked and Bullseye powder is gone. You can also check the web for .45 ACP brass and see far more listings marked "backorder" than "available".

IMHO, this is mostly the result of hoarding. A while ago, I bought a large quantity of Winchester small pistol primers only because the hazardous material shipping charge made a small order uneconomical, and bought a 4 lb jug of Bullseye only because nothing smaller was available. I'm glad I did because there are hoarders out there who have a lot more than I do in anticipation of the great governmental grab that isn't coming. But it doesn't look like I will be able to gear up for .45 shooting which I was planning to do this month simply because of the hoarders.

I learned my lesson in 2009 when I had to settle for a brand of primers I was not familiar with, which forced me to change my loads right before a match. Now I don't let my primers and powder drop below 10k on hand for each caliber. I would not call myself a horder. I am a volume buyer, not someone who cleans out the shelves at the local sporting goods store, (their prices are too high anyway). I figure the online stores like Powder Valley know who their customers are, and plan accordingly.

If you are overseas, and dependent on components produced in North America, I think you ought to do what you can to encourage your own industry in that area. Either that or get with your friends, and put in a big order, assuming your coutry allows direct importation of components.
