Age of a Steyr LP5

Hi All,
Is there a quick way to tell the age of a Steyr LP5?
The one I'm looking at is an LP5P.
Does the serial number have the date in it or is there at date stamp on the gun?

If it's any help, I bought my LP5P serial number 8033** in early 1998.
The date on the original cylinders was 10/97.

I have read that the muzzle has a squared off insert on later models and that the later cylinders have gauges rather than pop out pressure indicators.
I going to look at a second hand one and I'd like to know when it was made.

Those signs won't tell you anything.
My 1998 gun now has one of the "squared off" cones and cylinders with gauges.
Remember that all of the cylinders will have a date on them but that is no proof of when the gun was made; it might not have the original cylinders.

Well I decided to buy it anyway!
It's in very nice condition.
One cylinder (silver) has a gauge the other 3 don't and are painted gold.
The muzzle has a round insert.
Just need to get a left handed grip!

I have a couple of those gold cylinders with the f'in useless pop-out charge indicators.
They both started to leak (at different times). I had them disabled upon rebuild to end that problem.
Now I just refill them whenever. What difference does it make?

A quick answer is, drop Steyr an email with the serial number and ask them for the manufacture date, I did it last week on an LP50 and had a reply the next day, even telling me where they supplied it to etc

Well according to Stan the man, it's a November 2001 but they lost the serial number data from that period backwards when they split with Mannlicher.
My serial is 803794
The gold cylinders are dated 98, the silver gauged cylinder has no stamps as far as I can see.
Just looking for a left hand grip and some more 5 round mags...

If it helps, and I could be incorrectly informed but all current mechanical trigger grips will retro fit older LP5's. Also the current LP50 magazines will fit the LP5's (I know this as my coach has a 2003 LP5 and I have a new 2012 LP50)
As for where to buy I only know where to buy new in the UK
