bore cleaning 10m airguns

I have a used fWB601. I've shot several thousand through it myself in 2 years. I've never really cleaned the barrel since I got it. Last night I pulled patches through with fishing line. Looking at the patches I wonder why I bothered?

My question is, whats the normal cleaning interval and method.

And are cleaning pellets any use or just a way to separate fools from their $

Any other regular service items to watch for? I keep the cocking linkage oiled. And the piston bore lightly oiled.

Thanks,
Dan

There's no interval, really. When accuracy gets less, clean it. Otherwise, leave as is.

Normally the cleaning pellets do a good job between matchs (get rid of crud and moisture).
But lead does build up and is very hard to shift. a full scrub type cleaning system can be used (6 months to annual depending on shooting). Use it one or two matchs before a big competition.

I find that curious. Over the years I've shot many tens of thousands of pellets in numerous airguns and never had lead "build up" in the bore.
