Dumb question about the board software and PMs

When sending PMs, what's the difference between the "Outbox" and the "Sentbox"?

I got a PM, composed a reply, and hit "Submit". My reply then moved to my Outbox. I figured that since I've sent the thing, it should move to my Sentbox. Apparently not.

Do submitted PMs sit in my Outbox until the recipient reads them, then they automagically move to the Sentbox?

I ask because I notice that while most of the PMs I've submitted are in my Sentbox, there are a few old ones in my Outbox and I'm wondering if those ever got read by the intended recipients.

I do believe they sit in the outbox until they are opened.

Got it. Thanks. That just means I've sent a few PMs in the past that folks didn't bother to open.
