Is There an air Pistol Instructor Certification?

Hi,

I'd like to get a club started up for Olympic 10m pistol, and I have the approval of local Wildlife and Fisheries who just built a range with 10 lanes in it, but I'd like to get certified as an air pistol instructor. I know the NRA has it for firearms, but does anyone know if there is anywhere to get air pistol certified?

Thanks,

Richard

It's not for JUST air pistol, but the only game is town is the NRA/CMP/USAS classes. You can go with Instructor (introduce someone to firearms, show them how to safely handle use them, but no real assistance in development of the shooters), or Coach which covers the development aspect and tends to be involved for years.

List of Coach classes here:

Instructor info (with a link to the classes) here:

I suspect you're looking for Coaching credentials, not Instructor, but be aware there is a difference. Also, this years Coaches Conference at the Olympic Training Center is focusing on club development, which is right up the road you're on. That's in mid-November AND has a pistol class the 2 days prior to the College:

Good luck!

Keep in mind that the organization (Certification) does not teach you to do best at the shooting range - the instructor or coach does!
Thus, it's important to find an instructor or coach that is truly qualified, that presents the material thoroughly, and that makes you feel safe and confident in your future development in slow fire Olympic pistol (Air Pistol and 50 meter Pistol or Free Pistol).
You can start with NRA Basic Pistol class.
