Outside scoring rings must be used with the proper target as well as caliber.
The common outside scoring gauges are 22 rimfire @ 50ft ad the .177 @ 33ft using rifle targets.
The gauge is inserted and if the outside edge extends into the lower scoring ring the shot is downgraded from a 10 to a 9 etc.
