Older Ammo

I've found a batch of Lapua Midas which seems to shoot okay (I've only shot maybe seventy rounds of it, but it seems decent enough) but it's quite old. Has been stored in a dry environment in its plastic wrappers but the bullets have whitened, whether this is the wax or oxidation of the lead itself, I'm not sure. Should using this ammo present any issues? Will its age throw up any conspicuous issues and am I likely to have any fliers as a result which new ammo wouldn't show? Will shoot more of it over the next while, just wary about using it for important competitions which are coming up if it's going to be risky. I know of another batch of ammo which is reasonable (Nothing special, but shoots tens when I do my part) which I might get hold of if needs be. Would anyone else have any issues or concerns?

Sounds like you have a good handle on the situation.

Go ahead and shoot it. If it shoots well, use it!

As with any batch of different ammunition (make, age, type or batch#), it pays to machine rest about 50 to find out how it shoots. 50 should indicate the likelyhood of 'flyers'.

No machine rest available, just testing from the shoulder, and outdoors too. I'm more concerned that a larger sample and better conditions will be more useful. Just have to press on for the time being I suppose.
