I have come across an IZH 34, first one I've seen. I have owned an IZH35 and wonder if the IZH 34, can easily be converted to shoot 22lr?
I am wondering if the 34 uses essentially a 35 magaizne is a space in the magazine. (ie remove spacer in mag, change spring, and rechamber in order to make it effectively an IZH35).

My one doesn't have a spacer at all, could be a IZH35 mag. Pistols works anyway. Wouldn't be a legal Standard Pistol, though - barrel is ported and comped, trigger is too light. Looking at street prices for the IZH35, a conversion of a IZH34 could easily get twice or thrice as expensive as a IZH35.

Brian, is that the one in Alfred that you saw? I had a look at it. I think you would need to substantially change the magazine in order to put 10 LR rounds in it. Might be a lot cheaper to just shoot 22short in there. It's a pain that it only takes 5 rounds.

Brian,
If you're looking for an "interesting" pistol... the IZH34 would be a good start. But if you want to convert to 22lr... you're looking at a money pit.
I had a look at this pistol a few weeks ago (at the Montreal show)... I thought it would be fun to plink with... but since I already have my share of plinkers :0) I passed.
Safe shooting,
Mike
