Do any Aussies know of anyone who is or wants to sell their Hammerli 280 .32 S&W?

I am on the hunt but not having any luck.

Cheers

Why don't you import one? It's not that hard.

Was looking at frankonia.de the other day - they had quite a few listed...

Another option is to place a wanted ad in usedguns.com.au

I had thought of importing, but I dont know any dealers who would be willing to deal with customs for the transfer.

I have tried used guns already, obviously no luck there though.

Andrew Peter of Magnum Sports Roseville can do it. He's done a few imports for me already this year. And one for a fellow club member last week.

Also, Barry Smith of The Gunsmiths , Sefton, does them.

I think that price is a bit delusional - I'm pretty sure that's more than they cost new !

It is actually, I had the 280 when I was a junior many moons ago, and the complete kit new was only $2700 from memory.

Unfortunately they are a pistol that has increased in value, not depreciated.

Thanks to the buy back that is

Have a look at this one -

http://www.gunstuff.co.nz/auction_detai ... _id=106611

$NZD 1350. The advert is a couple of months old, but the gun didn't sell but still might be available. Worth pursuing...

Failing that - look to Switzerland & Germany...

Thanks Leon,
We must have been looking at it around the same time, as I just ordered it.
Now I have to get my B709 to bring in to Aus.
Thanks for the heads up on Magnum Sports too, appreciate the help.

Congratulations - you've bought well.

I'm not that familiar with the 280, but I presume that it has a safety catch? If not, Customs almost certainly won't let it in.

Another importing tip - If it has the safety catch, make sure that it has a red dot painted on the frame when it is in firing condition. Get the seller in NZ to put a red blob on if it hasn't - you can take it off after it's cleared Customs.

One problem, the 280 doesnt have a safety catch.
Same as Morini, Walther GSP and Pardini.

So how do I bring into Aus without?

Ahhh..

I believe all the current breed of match pistols have safety catches - my old Pardini and current Matchguns certainly do. The target guns used to have an exemption, but that may have changed.

I suggest that you ring the Customs Firearms Cell either 9318 8718 or 9318 8717 ( one no. is a fax number, can't remember which one ) and ask for their opinion....

You may be OK - excerpt from Customs regulations below -

Safety Testing
All firearms entering Australia must undergo safety testing conducted by Customs and Border Protection. Safety testing requirements do not apply to a firearm that:

is designed or adapted for competition target shooting
