New IRS filing requirements for small non-profits

Some of your shooting clubs or other associations that you are affiliated with may be 501(c) organizations with the IRS. New rules passed in 2006 require that you file a 990-N (E-postcard) if you do not already file a 990 because you gross more that $25,000. If the 990-N is not filed for three years the IRS can terminate your 501(c) status. The deadline for the three years for organizations with calendar year fiscal years was May 15, 2010. The IRS is still accepting late submissions, apparently because so many organizations have not filed. Goto www.irs.gov and search for 990-N.
