Choice of gun for steel plates. Smith 22A or Sig Hammerli Trailside.

Why that selection?

I shoot steel with a Marvel or a S&W 41.
I have been outshot many times with Rugers. I can only recall one S&W22 at the steel shoots.
With the awesome selection of after market parts for Rugers or 1911's why would you consider your choices?

The Rugers seem to outnumber all the rest combined at the steel shoots I have been at.

Use one of the guns designed for standard pistol(Benelli,Pardini, etc) because they don't recoil up as much which is much better for quick follow up shots.

I'd use my 22A, but my club does not allow shooting plates with rimfire, only centrefire.

The guns I identified are also made in .32. Any of the guns that have the barrel directly in front of the hand won't raise up as much and that makes them easier to shoot rapid fire. Basically that means the ones with the magazine in the front. I think a Benelli .32 model 95 runs about $900 new. The others are higher.
