I wear in-ear hearing protection, so anything that involves something that is designed to fit under ear muffs won't work. I just want something simple that let's me push start, after a short delay beeps, then beeps again to signal time is up. Something more complicated would be fine too, as long as it's not too pricey.

I use a memorex digital recorder and I downladed the mp3's from bullseye pistol.
It costs about 30$ and I can play it over and over easily.

An old Mark Time Pistol Match Timer works great. They are mechanical and have a loud bell that rings. They are setup to give a short "prep" time and then a bell rings for the start of the time and again for the end of the time. They have a 10 second and 20 second position. The last time I looked, they were about $20-$30. They haven't been made in quite some time, so you'll have to look around for a used one.
