Has anyone used old conveyor belting as a back stop for pellets. I was thinking of free hanging some 3/8 X 48 inch belt to stop the pellets I will be shooting at less than 600 FPS I have a pellet trap now for the targets to hang just wanted added protection and the ability to shoot other things to break up turning out targets for score. My son uses this to pratice for JROTC

Yes, I have heard using that works pretty good. Try it outside just to make sure, but I think it will work just fine.

Even hanging freely, rubber items sometimes direct pellets back to their source.

I found this out tying to use a truck wheel flap.

I now use putty traps indoors - they work great and are noiseless.

That's why it needs to be thin strips rather than a thick lump of rubber. 3/8" strips should absorb most of the energy (or at least enough of it) rather than sending it back at the shooter.

Strips overlaped? I could do two rows ofset from eachother. Gets me thinking maybe buy that potalble airgun range from Creedmore anyone use one of those

Take a strip of rigid material (steel bar, wood strip, etc) that the strips will be mounted to. The odd numbered strips hang on the front side of the bar. The evens hang on the back side. The edges of the strips overlap a little bit.

Could you use carpet that would make the whole set-up lighter ?

My 887 shoots thru carpet at 10M. It also shoots thru a wool blanket (the wife thinks it was a moth.)
