Last Match Before Christmas

> Twas the last match before Christmas
> and it seemed kinda strange .
> No one was stirrin
> but me at the range.

> I arrived here too early
> The air's quiet and still .
> Thought I heard sleigh bells
> from over the hill .

> And what with these old
> Tired eyes did I sees
> But a big fellow in a sleigh
> comin over the trees

> Pulled by eight critters
> No bigger than deer
> They landed beside me
> While showing no fear .

> Then the fellow got out
> and said with a grin
> " We're the only ones here
> We might as well begin ".

> He stood at the line
> and said " lets go "
> So I started the timer
> and watched the show.
>
> He took out his gun
> and his shots rang out
> He hit every bullseye
> Was there ever any doubt ?

> A hundred in slow fire
> And X's times ten
> Who is this fellow
> Who surely will win?

> Then came time fire and rapid
> And much to my wonder
> The "X" disappeared
> But the X-ring did endure

> He packed away his gun box
> Putting away his scope
> His 2700 score
> Left me unable to cope.

> Then back to the sleigh
> he went with a flash
> Grabbed up the reigns
> and adjusted his red sash

> Away over the trees
> With his sleigh he did fly
> Waving his hand
> And bidding good bye
>
> "A Very Merry Christmas
> And God's Blessings to All here
> And keep the Range open
> I'll stop in next year!!! "

> So , Santa shoots Bullseye
> Somehow I knew it
> And that's my Christmas Story
> And I have his targets to prove it.
