Air Pistol Oppertunities in Missouri/Illinois?

I've been shooting air pistol since April and getting to the point that I need to compete in a live event to make practicing worthwhile. I'm in highschool, but I can drive to matches in the midwest as long as it doesn't conflict with school air rifle. I shoot about a 510 when I practice often, but I usually shoot at 50ft NRA smallbore targets at 7 yards. I like to shoot but I need to Compete. I'm debating whether my $300 on an IZH 46m should have been spent on a silhouette rifle, smallbore, bull's eye, IDPA, or highpower gun.(all of which are prevalent in the St. louis Area)

Another point - traditionally you will NOT find air gun matches in the summer. If you're willing to travel to Chicagoland, then Streator should also be in your sights. They usually have air pistol in Nov for the State Championship. Anything going on in Highland, east of you?

Thanks for the advise. Highland only has AP indoor silhouette(looks fun). I'm waiting for emails from the NRA and USAS. I'll probably see you guys in the windy city in the fall. Thanks again

If you are willing to travel a few hours, southern Indiana is in range (see below). I think there are matches near Indianpolis, but I can't find the contact info. Also I think there are matches in Chebanse (sp?) IL, but again I can't find the contact info.

I think that's Ray and Tina Odle running matches at Chebanse Il. (near Kankakee). Probably CMP progressive air pistol, if I know where Ray's heart is! Search the forums here, the Odle's have posted before; their contact info should be around here somewhere. Tina (the state CMP director) also usually puts together a handy calendar of events for fall/winter.
Joe Miller at U of I (Bloomington) may also know of some air pistol matches, or be planning some (?). Find his contact info via a search here too.
