Avanti 747 problem
I'm having a problem with my son's Avanti 747. When we open the breech and try to cock it, the cylinder won't take in any air. In fact, the suction in the cylinder will pull the cocking lever back about half way. Any suggestions as to how we might fix this problem?
I sold my 717 over a year ago, so possibly my recollection is false. However, I think that when the cocking lever is fully forward, the piston should just open the cylinder to the atmosphere, by about 1/32". It could be that the stroke adjuster has worked itself round and pushed the piston slightly toward the breech, closing the cylinder permanently. I had to use loctite on mine to prevent the adjustment changing of it's own free will.
When correctly adjusted, the cocking lever should rest at 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" from the breech, before pushing "over centre" to lock in position.
Sorry if my explanation is not too clear; I'm sure you will follow with the gun in front of you.
