Hi, I have a Walther P88,which I've only used for plinking. I'm now thinking about trying some competive shooting. My question is what type of shooting would my pistol be legal to shoot? Any advice would be helpful.thanks David

Most ISSF disciplines require .22 caliber, if it's 9mm you could use it for center fire but for my $0.02 in either caliber its far from ideal and you will be handy capping you self. You might be able to get an anatomical grip for it which would help marginally.

The other thing is that Compensators, muzzle brakes, perforated barrels
or any device(s) functioning in a similar manner are not allowed.

if you have the p88 sport the overall length is 230mm. the maximum allowed distance between the sights is 223mm so you may fall short of that rule

Julian , IIRC the P88 is an AP . The trigger might be a bit heavy , and single loading might be a bit of a pain . Other than that should be OK .

With the greates of respecT the P88 is not an AP I believe ou are thiniking about the CP88 is. and yes for the cp88 you remarks a totaly correct.

I have to admit the cp88 is the more common but the P88 is an all singing dancing firearm

Julian,
Had a look at the Walther site you referenced. Wow! When a widget manufacturer says that theirs is the finest widget ever produced, superior to anything else available, at a price 2x greater than other widgets, I get turned off very quickly by their advertising copy. Perhaps they mean it is better than any previous Walther widget. I say this with great respect for Walther, having owned a PPK as well as a P99.
