I need to buy a travel case over the internet and was wondering,
will a LP10 fit into a Pelican 1500 or should I go with the 1520?
Any advice from people with either of these cases would be greately appreciated.

I have a Pelican 1500, a 1520 and a steyr LP10 so I can say for sure that a 1500 is plenty big enough for the LP10 (my 1500 has room for the LP10 and a Pardini SP, plus glasses, muffs, ammo tools etc.).
I only use that 1520 if I want to carry the above two pistols and my Toz Free Pistol. The Toz will fit into the 1500 but it is touching at both ends which I don't like.

To see specifications of all Pelican cases go to http://66.134.99.3/images/Pelican/cases_table.html
My Steyr LP-10 measures about 16.25 inches in length, and it will fit in the Pelican 1490 case, as well as the others you mention.
You may want to consider an SKB or Strong case. They are generally a little less expensive, and some have latches that are much easier to operate. I had a Pelican 1550 once, and it was very difficult to open. I traded it for an SKB case about the size of the Pelican 1490. And I can fit my TOZ-35 free pistol, my Steyr LP-10 and my standard pistol in it. My SKB case has very easily operated latches, yet is as strong as the Pelican latches.

You might also check out Starlight Cases at:

These cases are much stronger than the Pelicans. I own both and the Starlight cases are just made stronger. They are also air and water tight.
