Removing Rear Sight Blade on IHZ-46M

Post by pabiron1 »

A second rear sight blade, with a wider aperture came with my new IHZ-46M. I'd like to use this wider aperture blade but I cannot figure out how to remove the first blade.

The 2 screws holding on the blade are in very tightly. We tried heating them, thinking perhaps they were on with Locktite, but they still would not budge. Is there some special trick to removing the sight blade?

If I'm not mistaken, they have left-hand threads. Try gently turning them clockwise.

Yep, turn them clock-wise to loosen!

That was it. They came out easily. Thanks!

They're not left hand thread, you're turning from the screw tips, rather than the heads as usual. The head is on the side of the sight blade away from the shooter andd you need to turn the screw away from the shooter. This is the same motion as tightening a screw with the head towards you.

When you have one out, hold it up and look at the threads.

Enjoy,
Norm

P.S. It's in the book.
