I have an early LP1 with the steel cylinders and no compensator. Will a later compensator shroud from a CO2 pistol fit on mine and make it a comped gun? thanks

Short Answer = YES
Long answer = this is definitely something you want to do if you can find a shroud. The compensator does indeed help you in developing better follow-through.
Also - if you can find aluminum cylinders you'll find the pistol is more pleasant to shoot with them rather than with steel cylinders (assuming you don't like a very nose-heavy pistol).
You'll go a long way to find a better air pistol than the LP1. I wish you great success with it!

Rob,
I've done both of Mark's recommendations to my early Steyr LP-1, which came as yours did. It's my favorite air pistol (and I've tried a lot).
