A couple of years ago there was an article posted somewhere about setting up an IZH-46 for AP Silhouette shooting. I can't seem to find it now that I want to see it again (figures, huh?) and searches have been fruitless. Anyone have any insight to offer?
Thanks.

Re: AP Silhouette
My IZH-46M is set up for silhouette. I have a Sig-Sauer red dot on a B-Square mount. The gun is muzzle heavy, so I have ordered a Sandlin mount (http://www.stimsonenterprises.com/) which will hopefully allow me to move the sight back. I shoot Beeman Trophy (7.88gr) with sights zeroed at 15 yd. POI is dead on at 10 yd and 1.5 in low at 25 yd. Last match I shot 18/20 including 4 chickens.a.paul wrote:A couple of years ago there was an article posted somewhere about setting up an IZH-46 for AP Silhouette shooting. Let me know if you locate that article.
If it's non-scoped or open sights that you're looking for, the Martens setup is quite nice.
Here's his page on the IZH stuff: http://www.daisysights.com/wst_page2.html
It's not shown on that page, and is a little confusing to figure out from Marten's price sheet, but we use the front post/long tube and a narrower rear notch blade setup, only because my son is using it in 4H competition and under those rules any pistol with a peep classifys it into the "any sight" category rather than open sights (this rule went into effect this year, dunno if it'll change for next year).
Also, I've used the "rear peep on front post" setup before and it works great (if allowed by the rules you're shooting under). My scores almost doubled when I tried that setup over the factory sights. Interestingly though, my scores with the narrowed notch/hooded front post are now pretty comperable, so I think it's all in what you get used to. Lastly, I've not used it, but I'm hearing great things about the "rear peep on clear front peep" setup Martens sells for AP silhouette (again, IF the rules you're shooting under allow it).
