Anyone else here uses one regularly indoors?
Did you find you had to open up the rear sight?

I used a 52 for a few years - prior to moving to the 45 exclusively. I always used a red dot on it.

YES - very carefully since parts are difficult to find.

I opened it up a bit last night.
Result: tighter groups with less flyiers.
Now to see if I need more space for timed and rapid.

With a Model 52? I presume you are not talking about ISSF Standard Pistol.

Mostly Bull'seye, but have shot ISSF Center Fire and Sport Pistol with it.
Three seconds time from a 45° rest position into a ISSF rapidfire target is lots of fun. Use to do Swiss miitary shoots with the P49 version of the SIG 210, in pretty much the same format as the Sport Pistol.

I didn't posted earlier as was counting to test my new SW 52 at the range today. And so I did. Facing lower light conditions we tend to fell that the rear sight is too narrow. At outdoor ranges the problem seems to disapear inspite of SW 52 rear sights are still somehow narrow.

As far as I'm concearned my indoor range experience is confined to Air Pistol, as here we all shoot live ammo ISSF events at outdoor ranges. However I'd like to point out that sometimes the indoor range lights may be too dim leading to sighting problems such as this. Besides as you all know there are ISSF rules on this matter.

So before taking risks widing the M52 sights I would try to see if something could be done to improve the indoor range light level.

I shoot a model 52 outside. I dont remember the notch being too narrow.

My pistol club range is a very uniform 18% greycard type of gray.
Concrete floor, walls, ceiling, backstop, everything except the lights are grey. It is owned by railroad police who let us use it a few nights a week.

Opening the sights helped considerablely with timed and rapidfire scores.
Much eaier to stay focused on front sight and prevent sight drift.
