Rika Software Technical Question

Post by Ed Hall »

This may not show up for most Rika users, but it's annoying for my setup, although I am "working around" it.

The issue is if you set up a ten shot series, with no replay, and have a long follow through on your tenth shot, the software assumes an eleventh shot and starts a new series. Unfortunately, when it starts the new series, the original one goes away and I haven't been able to find it again without Logging off and bringing it back via the saved files. If I do this, most of the stats become unavailable.

Is there a way to bring back the original series without Logging off to save the data? Or, is there a setting somewhere to tell it to stop trying to do another series? I currently set the system for 20 shots and stop after ten as my "work around."

I have the replay turned off and the follow through short so I can do sustained dry fire training. For this, I want subsequent shots registered, but I'd like it to stop after the tenth instead of proceeding to an eleventh shot.

Any suggestions?

Ed:

I have never encountered this. I will try to duplicate the situation this week and get back to you. Couple of thoughts in the meantime:

- I have always used replay, and have quite often "stepped over" previous shots with new shots with no problem (but I don't do sustained fire- the sensor is brought out of the window in between each shot);
- The standard Rika software engineer advice (it has actually cured several "undocumented features" (!) in the past for me) of re-installing the software . . . I have done this with deleting old software and just re-installing over the top of existing installation with great success;
- Is there a way to trick the "Biathlon" feature to work with multiple shots on same sensor????

Your workaround actually seems like a good solution- sorry I don't have more thoughts for you.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. What you described as "quite often 'stepped over' previous shots with new shots" is what I'm referring to, I think. Basically, the Software will start to trace the next shot and if the current one is number ten, it starts a new series. Unfortunately, if you're at the last shot of your chosen number, when the new one starts, it gets rid of the previous set.

There is an inconsistency though. For my sustained firing to work well I do have to take the sights off target between shots, even further with the newer software. Yet, I often lose the series because the system tries for an eleventh trace if I have any follow through on shot ten.

I may just have to work with setting up for more than my expected number of shots, which really isn't a problem.

Thanks again.
