Air front sight width.

There has been not much reporting on this subject.
It appears 4.5 - 5 mm is the acceptrd standard for such.
What are the arguments to go bigger or smaller?
Smaller = more precision/more apprehension of shot.
Bigger = less presision/easier release.
your ideas please.

As I understand it it is generally perceived that a foresight the same size as the entire black is about right. It depends on the discipline and I'm sure my free pistol sight is bigger than the black, my AP is about right though.
I think it is the rearsight width or rather the notches that are more critical to the 'over precision' problem rather than the foresight width. Thereafter it's down to personal preference and what feels best or better still works best.

My precision AP is about 1.2.1 whereas my five shot air pistol is is about 1.1.1. Don't know what the free pistol is but it's probably about the same as the precision.
I should add these are my personal preferences rather than what anyone's told me to use.

i guess i need to re evaluate my sights.
for now i am using 0.5-1-0.5

Why? If it works for you then stick with it.
You may however want to check that it still works under all of the lighting conditions you are likely to shoot under.

That's what I thought, unless I'm missing something.
I guess it could however imply the foresight is very narrow ??

0.5-1-0.5 does indeed equal 1-2-1.
It makes no assumptions of sight width, just the scale between the light bars and the sight.
