Does anyone use 6m reduced targets for 10m air pistol?

Just wondering, it would take less space... ; )

In the UK 6 yards is a fairly common distance (5.5M ish?). My club has ranges at both 6 Y and 10 M and it is certainly advantageous if you can't get the full distance (at home for example). I don't think the scores are meant to match up exactly plus I really don't like the shorter distance - it feels odd to me.

Rob is right - it does feel a bit odd shooting at that distance even if you use the appropriate targets. At the same time, it beats the heck out of not practicing at all. Trigger time, even if not in perfect match conditions is the more important objective.

One individual suggested a more accurate way to score a 6M target was to count a shot touching the line as the LOWER instead of the higher value. I suppose this is to compensate for the size of the pellet relative to the reduced 6M scoring rings.

I suggest not putting too much emphasis on your scores. Concentrate instead on sight alignment, trigger pull and follow through - all of which will lead to better scores at any distance.

If you need to shoot AP at 6m then remember that this board's admin, Shin, has posted a 6m Reduced Air Pistol Target that not only has a correctly reduced aiming mark but also has correctly reduced scoring rings.

The two reductions are not the same. The aiming mark is reduced in the same ratio as the reduced distance, the scoring ring reduction has to take the fixed pellet size into account. That is why you will see that part of the black aiming mark is actually in the 6 on the reduced target.
